Southeast Tennessee Area Agency on Aging and Disability

The goal of Southeast Tennessee Area Agency on Aging and Disability is to advocate for and to strive to achieve a system of services that allows older persons and persons with disabilities the opportunity for an independent and productive lifespan. This is accomplished through three primary areas of emphasis: Advocacy, Service, and Planning.

The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009

The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 was signed into law by President Obama on February 17, 2009 with the intent to stimulate economic growth, create or save millions of jobs, enhance our domestic renewable energy capacity, safeguard the well-being of our most vulnerable residents, and strengthen our national infrastructure through a variety of multibillion dollar investments.

Brief Description Started two new congregate sites (Red Bank and Highway 58 - National Alliance of Postal and Federal Employees) and five new home delivered routes. Contracted with a RD to provide high quality nutrition education programs to the sites quarterly.
Jobs Saved/Created Two congregate site coordinators, one home delivered site coordinator, four meal delivery positions.
